At the American International School of Ethiopia (AISE), we believe that strong communication between school and home is essential for student success. AISE maintains close communication with families to ensure parents are well informed about their children’s academic progress, behavior, attendance, and overall development. We use several communication tools and programs to keep families connected and engaged with the school community.
The AISE E-Communication Book #
To strengthen communication between the school and parents, AISE uses the E-Communication Book, a digital platform that allows parents, teachers, and administrators to stay connected and informed at all times.
The E-Communication Book serves as the primary communication channel between families and the school.
Through this platform:
- Teachers post homework assignments and learning activities.
- Teachers provide academic feedback, behavioral updates, and suggestions to support student progress.
- Parents can track daily student attendance.
- Grade Reports and Mid-Term Progress Reports (MTPR) are shared with families.
- Important announcements, reminders, and school notices are communicated.
- Parents receive updates about tests, worksheets, and examinations.
- Parents can send messages and comments directly to teachers.
For Kindergarten students, teachers may also use a daily communication notebook when necessary to share important information with families.
Benefits for Parents and Teachers #
The E-Communication Book supports a strong partnership between school and home.
Parents can:
- Receive important announcements and reminders from the school.
- Monitor their child’s attendance and academic progress.
- View grade reports and mid-term progress reports.
- Stay updated about tests, worksheets, and exam schedules.
- Communicate easily with teachers by sending messages and comments.
Teachers use the platform to:
- Share academic feedback and learning progress.
- Provide behavioral updates and suggestions for improvement.
- Post homework and academic expectations.
- Maintain consistent communication with families.
Using the Platform Effectively #
To ensure effective communication, parents are encouraged to:
- Check the E-Communication Book regularly for updates.
- Read all messages and announcements carefully.
- Use the platform as the primary method for communicating with teachers.
- Respond when necessary with feedback, questions, or important information about their child.
Active parent participation in the E-Communication Book helps students stay organized, complete assignments, and receive timely support.
School Announcements and Letters Home #
In addition to the E-Communication Book, the school may communicate with families through:
- School newsletters
- Official announcements and letters
- Telegram channels and other digital communication platforms
Parents are encouraged to check these communication channels regularly for important school updates, events, and announcements. Some letters may require parent signatures and confirmation, and these should be returned to the school promptly.
Parent–Teacher Conferences #
AISE values collaboration with families and organizes four Parent–Teacher Conference programs each academic year. These meetings allow parents and teachers to discuss:
- Student academic performance
- Social and behavioral development
- Learning goals and support strategies
Additional conferences may be arranged whenever a student requires additional academic or behavioral support, or whenever parents or teachers request a meeting.
Telephone and Direct Communication #
School staff may contact families by telephone or electronic communication when necessary. This may include situations such as:
- Academic concerns
- Behavioral matters
- Health issues
- Forgotten materials or urgent school information
The administration and teachers at AISE are always available to support students and families. We encourage open and respectful communication at all times.
The AISE E-Communication Book strengthens the partnership between school and home and supports student success.
We encourage all parents to actively use the platform and stay connected with the AISE community.
